Privacy Policy

SlowTV is built for young children, so we keep data collection to the bare minimum needed to make the product work — and we never collect personal information from the child. This policy explains what we handle, why, and the choices you have as the parent who manages the account.

Children’s privacy comes first

SlowTV is a calm, channel-based TV experience made for young children but set up and controlled entirely by a parent or guardian. The child-facing screen has no account, no login, and no way to browse, search, type, or reach the open internet. Because of this, SlowTV is designed so that we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

A SlowTV device is linked to a parent’s account using a short, one-time pairing code shown on the device — not a child profile. We do not ask children for, and do not knowingly collect, a child’s name, photo, voice, precise location, contacts, email, or browsing behavior. We do not build advertising profiles of children, show interest-based ads, or sell any information about children.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without the involvement of a parent or guardian, please contact us at the address below and we will delete it.

Information we collect

SlowTV is built to run on the minimum data needed to make the product work. Almost all of the information we handle relates to the parent or guardian who manages an account — not the child. We collect the following categories of information.

Information you provide to us

  • Account and contact data — the email address a parent uses to sign in to the parent portal, and basic profile details associated with that account. Sign-in uses a one-time email code or a linked sign-in provider; we do not store your sign-in provider password.
  • Configuration data — the channels you set up, the content and library you assign to them, the schedule and allowed hours, daily watch limits, the devices you pair, and other settings you create to shape the experience.
  • Content you provide — any media, stories, or personalization details you choose to add to a channel or to a personalized story or household video. You are responsible for having the right to use any content you upload or configure (see our Terms of Service).
  • Family Assistant interactions — the messages you send to, and receive from, the Family Assistant (a chat that is for grown-ups only), and the actions you ask it to take or approve.
  • Support and other communications — information you share when you contact us for help, give feedback, or respond to a survey.
  • Payment data — if and when paid Premium plans launch, the billing details needed to complete a transaction. Card payments are processed by a third-party payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and technical data — for paired devices and the parent portal, information such as device or browser type, operating system, app version, language, general (city/region-level) location inferred from IP address, and similar technical identifiers needed to keep devices in sync and the service secure.
  • Operational and log data — events such as which channel is playing, when a watch limit is reached, sign-in events, errors, and other diagnostic logs used to keep the service reliable and to generate the parent-facing recaps shown in the Family Assistant.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — in the parent portal we use strictly necessary cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and remember your settings. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party ad trackers.

We do not collect demographic profiles, behavioral advertising data, or sensitive personal information beyond what is described here. We do not knowingly collect any of the above from a child.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to operate, maintain, and improve SlowTV. Specifically, we use it to:

  • Provide the service — pair devices, sync your channels and settings, play the content you configured, and enforce the schedule and watch limits you set.
  • Power the Family Assistant — recap what played on your devices, explain your current limits and settings in plain language, and carry out control changes that you approve.
  • Keep things working and safe — monitor reliability, troubleshoot problems, prevent abuse and fraud, and protect the security of accounts and devices.
  • Communicate with you — respond to support requests and send operational messages about your account or the service. We will only send optional product updates if you have not opted out, and every such message includes a way to unsubscribe.
  • Handle payments — process Premium subscriptions and related billing if you choose a paid plan in the future.
  • Comply with law — meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not use personal information to show ads, and we do not use children’s information to build profiles or target content.

The Family Assistant and AI processing

The Family Assistant is a chat feature for parents and guardians only — it is never shown on the child’s screen. It uses AI technology, provided by SlowTV and trusted third-party model providers, to summarize activity on your devices, answer questions about your settings, and make control changes you approve.

To provide this feature we process the messages you send, relevant configuration and operational data about your own account and devices, and the assistant’s responses. We may share the necessary content with our AI service providers solely to generate responses and operate the feature; these providers are contractually limited to using it for that purpose. We do not feed your children’s personal information into these systems, and we do not allow your conversations to be used to train third-party public models.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only in these limited situations:

  • Service providers — vendors who host our infrastructure, process payments, deliver email, provide the AI technology behind the Family Assistant, and otherwise help us operate SlowTV, under contracts that restrict their use of the information.
  • Legal and safety — when reasonably necessary to comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our Terms of Service, or protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the public.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case we will continue to protect information as described here.
  • With your direction — when you ask us to share information or make it available through a feature you use.

Data retention and security

We keep personal information only for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete content, a paired device, or your account, we delete or de-identify the associated information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it for legitimate business or legal reasons.

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You are in control of your SlowTV account and the configuration you create. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing.

  • Access and update — review and change your channels, content, limits, paired devices, and account details directly in the parent portal at any time.
  • Delete — remove content or paired devices yourself, or delete your account and associated personal information.
  • Marketing — opt out of optional product emails using the unsubscribe link in any such message; we will still send essential service messages.
  • Exercise privacy rights — contact us at the address below to make a request. We will verify and respond as required by applicable law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Third-party services, international users, and changes

SlowTV may link to or rely on third-party services (for example, your sign-in provider or a payment processor). Their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.

SlowTV is operated from the United States and information we handle may be processed there or in other countries where we or our service providers operate. We take steps to protect personal information consistent with this policy wherever it is processed.

We may update this Privacy Policy as the product and our practices evolve. When we make material changes we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. The current version always lives on this page.
