A few of the things parents ask most often about how SlowTV works and what it does (and doesn't) do.
Is there a way for my child to browse or search?
No — and that’s the point. SlowTV has no library view, no thumbnails, and no search. Content plays on channels you set up, and the child only changes the channel.
What can my child actually do?
Change channels, pause and play, and change the volume. That’s the whole interface. There are no other apps to open and no settings the child can reach.
What devices does SlowTV run on?
SlowTV runs on Android (including as the device home launcher / kiosk) and iOS. A spare phone, tablet, or TV box works well as a dedicated SlowTV screen.
How do I control what plays and for how long?
Everything is managed from the parent portal: which channels are on, what fills them, the allowed hours, and a daily watch limit. Changes sync to the device live.
Can I see what my child watched?
Yes. SlowTV has a Family Assistant — a calm chat just for parents — that recaps recent watching, explains your current limits in plain language, and can even adjust the controls for you. You approve every change before it takes effect, and the child never sees the assistant.
Where does the content come from?
You can build your own channels from content you choose. We’re also making a growing set of original, gently-illustrated and softly-narrated stories in-house, designed to play calmly on a channel — no flashing, no cliffhangers.
Does SlowTV collect data about my child?
No. SlowTV is built for kids and does not collect personal information about the child. The device pairs with a code — there is no child account and no child login.
Are there ads or recommendations?
Never. There are no ads, no "up next" suggestions, and no algorithm choosing content. Nothing in SlowTV is designed to maximize watch time.
